ABOUT DYDEX
Dydex is a Toronto based clean energy company founded in 2000, specializing in economics research and clean energy technology development. We consult to governments, large utilities, energy traders and power producers, and have founded or been involved in several new clean energy technology businesses.
Besides our technology development work in hydroelectricity and energy storage, we have been researching nuclear power for over 10 years. This work has led to the founding of a new nuclear power startup, UPR Energy, which is focussed on maximizing simplicity and minimizing capital costs.
ECONOMICS
We have been involved in energy economics research, analysis, consulting and publishing since 2000. With the deregulation of the Ontario, Canada, electricity market in 2002 we published the book “Ontario Electricity Trading: Regulation and Economics“. This led to consulting work for governments, large utilities, energy traders and power producers.
Besides consulting we also developed new and advanced electricity financial derivatives. This was particularly challenging work as electricity is an instantaneous commodity and classic derivative valuation methods do not apply.
We have also analyzed and modelled all the known and most promising power generation and energy storage technologies. This has helped direct our technology research and development into the most relevant and promising areas.
TECHNOLOGY
Our economics research has directed us to the most promising areas for clean energy technology development. Over the last 20 years we have been involved in the development of new hydro, energy storage, LED lighting and nuclear technologies.
We have financed and started several clean tech businesses and consulted on others. Our work has included full business and/or program management, business strategy development, the creation and management of international patent portfolios and the development of projects in North America and Europe.
